Meat enthusiasts will feel as if they have finally arrived where they were meant to be. But we have also thought up a surprise or two for those who prefer vegetable dishes. Besides, we always attach great importance to regional and seasonal products when purchasing products and preparing dishes.
Quality Prepared with LoveWe use first-class products, which we prefer to buy from domestic production and prepare fresh, from A-Z, in our kitchen.
The Gasser family, the former landlords, are still at your disposal as Bistro Gasser AG.
Is the historic St. Jakob tavern really one of the oldest in town?
When was it first mentioned in records?
In his book Basel: einst und jetzt [Basel: Once Upon a Time and Now], author Eugen A. Meier mentions that the tavern at St. Jakob was first mentioned in 1526, though this was not the same building we know today, as the original customs house was replaced by a new building in 1687.
